Dining with Diabetes Information Session at the Southern Blair Senior Center
Do you or someone you know have type 2 diabetes? Do you have a hard time knowing what to eat? Do you want to know more about diabetes? If so, then plan to attend the information session “Dining with Diabetes,” a program for adults with diabetes and their families. The information session will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Southern Blair Senior Center located on 15229 Dunnings Highway in East Freedom.
Blair Senior Services, Inc. and Penn State Extension are offering this educational session to anyone interested in learning more about managing type 2 diabetes. “Dining with Diabetes” is a 4-week program that helps participants increase knowledge of healthy food choices and includes food demonstrations and tasting of new and familiar foods as well as exercise to promote blood sugar control. Participants also test their A1C and blood pressure, receive a pedometer, exercise DVD’s, stretch band, cookbook and many other materials during the classes. Class dates are October 2, 9, 16 and 23 at the Southern Blair Senior Center from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a follow-up class on January 8, 2014. Registration is required
