THE HIGH WINDS COULD TOPPLE TREES AND POWER LINES AND MANY AREA RESIDENTS SPENT THE WEEKEND PREPARING THEIR PROPERTY FOR POSSIBLE FLOODING AND LONG-TERM POWER OUTAGES. SOME PARTS OF OUR REGION COULD GET MORE THAN 6 INCHES OF RAIN…AND SOME RIDGETOPS COULD ALSO GET SNOW.

HE STRESSED THIS IS GOING TO BE A MAJOR AND POSSIBLY HISTORIC WEATHER EVENT AND HE WARNED PEOPLE TO BE READY TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES FOR DAYS IF NECESSARY. CORBETT IS ANTICIPATING WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES, HEAVY VOLUMES OF RAIN AND DAMAGING WINDS. HE HAS REQUESTED A PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION FOR A STATE OF EMERGENCY TO MAKE FEDERAL FUNDS AVAILABLE IN THE WAKE AND AFTERMATH OF SANDY. HE ALSO PUT 16-HUNDRED NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS ON STANDBY.
