DRIVER DIES IN BLAIR COUNTY CRASH -

 ONE PERSON WAS KILLED IN A THREE VEHICLE CRASH IN FREEDOM TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY ON THURSDAY NIGHT. THE UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN WHO DIED WAS DRIVING A CAR THAT COLLIDED WITH TWO OTHER VEHICLES ON ROUTE 36 IN MCKEE. TWO OTHER PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL WITH INJURIES.

 PRELIMINARY HEARING FOR TEEN -

 THERE WILL BE A PRELIMINARY HEARING TODAY IN BEDFORD COUNTY FOR A 15 YEAR OLD BOY CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE IN JULY AFTER PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH A FRIEND. THE INCIDENT TOOK THE LIFE OF 15 YEAR OLD NEIL HAMMOND. THREE TEENS FACE CHARGES IN THE CASE.

 FORMER FIRE CHIEF WILL BE ARRAIGNED -

 FORMAL ARRAIGNMENT IS SCHEDULED TODAY FOR FORMER ROARING SPRING VOLUNTEER FIRE CHIEF AND BLAIR COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR GARY DENNIS. HE IS CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLING MORE THAN 15-THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE FRIENDSHIP FIRE COMPANY OVER A 3 YEAR PERIOD. DENNIS ALLEGEDLY WROTE CHECKS TO HIMSELF USING SOME OF THE MONEY TO PAY HIS OWN PROPERTY TAXES AND ATTEND A NASCAR RACE IN KENTUCKY. HE’S ALSO ACCUSED OF TAKING MONEY FROM FIRE COMPANY FUNDRAISERS.

 SUSPECTS APPREHENDED -

 TWO FEMALE SUSPECTS THAT STATE COLLEGE POLICE WERE LOOKING FOR IN CONNECTION WITH STOLEN IDENTIFICATION AND THE PASSING OF STOLEN CHECKS AT AREA BANKS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN KENTUCKY ON TUESDAY. CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST THE PAIR.

 INJUNCTION POSSIBLE IN VOTER I.D. CHALLENGE -

 THE COMMONWEALTH COURT JUDGE OVERSEEING THE VOTER I-D CHALLENGE DID NOT ISSUE A DECISION IN COURT YESTERDAY..BUT HINTED THAT AN INJUNCTION MAY BE POSSIBLE. THE STATE ARGUES THAT ALL VOTERS HAVE EASY ACCESS TO IDENTIFICATION WHILE PLAINTIFFS SAY THERE ARE TOO MANY HURDLES TO CLEAR BEFORE THE NOVEMBER 6TH ELECTION. JUDGE ROBERT SIMPSON HAS UNTIL TUESDAY TO MAKE HIS DECISION.

 GET RID OF UNWANTED OR EXPIRED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS ON SATURDAY -

STATE TROOPERS WILL ACCEPT UNWANTED, EXPIRED, AND UNUSED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS TOMORROW AS PART OF “NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY.” DRUGS CAN BE DROPPED OFF FROM 10AM TO 2PM AT STATE POLICE BARRACKS IN HOLLIDAYSBURG, ROCKVIEW, DUBOIS, LEWISTOWN, HUNTINGDON, AND MCCONNELLSBURG. OTHER DROP-OFF SITES INCLUDE WEIS MARKET IN PHILIPSBURG…GIANT FOODS IN THE NORTHLAND CENTER, STATE COLLEGE…THE STATE COLLEGE MUNICIPAL BUILDING…THE ALUM BANK FIRE DEPARTMENT…AND THE SOMERSET AREA AGENCY ON AGING. DURING THE LAST EVENT, A RECORD-BREAKING 276 TONS OF MEDICATIONS WERE TURNED IN FOR PROPER DISPOSAL.

 FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL RECEIVES FUNDS -

 THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTS THAT THE U-S DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS GIVING THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS TO COMPLETE ACCESS ROAD WORK AT THE FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL. THE FLIGHT 93 NATIONAL MEMORIAL CAMPAIGN SAYS IT NEEDS ABOUT 5 MILLION DOLLARS TO FINISH THE ENTIRE MEMORIAL.

 ANOTHER SANDUSKY VICTIM MAY SPEAK -

 THE HARRISBURG PATRIOT-NEWS IS REPORTING THAT ANOTHER VICTIM OF JERRY SANDUSKY WILL MAKE A STATEMENT IN COURT PRIOR TO SANDUSKY’S SENTENCING ON OCTOBER 9TH. VICTIM 4, WHO TESTIFIED AT SANDUSKY’S TRIAL, WILL SPEAK DURING THE VICTIM PORTION OF THE HEARING. EARLIER THIS WEEK, THE PAPER REPORTED THAT VICTIM 5 HAS SAID, THROUGH HIS ATTORNEY, THAT WANTS TO MAKE A SIMILAR STATEMENT.

 PENN STATE FOOTBALL REVENUE APPEARS HEALTHY -

 A BLOOMBERG NEWS REPORT SHOWS THAT PENN STATE’S FOOTBALL REVENUE HAS REMAINED CONSISTENT IN THE WAKE OF THE JERRY SANDUSKY SCANDAL. ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, THE UNIVERSITY SAYS DONATIONS TIED TO TICKET PURCHASES ARE PROJECTED TO REACH A RECORD 17 ½ MILLION DOLLARS. FANS HAVE PURCHASED 68,000 SEASON TICKETS AND THE 60 LUXURY SUITES AT BEAVER STADIUM ARE SOLD OUT.
