SAME SEX MARRIAGE

GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING HE WILL NOT APPEAL A FEDERAL JUDGE’S RULING THAT DETERMINED PENNSYLVANIA’S BAN ON SAME-SEX MARRIAGE WAS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. CORBETT SAYS “AS A ROMAN CATHOLIC, I CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE BELIEF THAT MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN. MY DUTIES AS GOVERNOR REQUIRE THAT I FOLLOW THE LAWS AS INTERPRETED BY THE COURTS AND MAKE A JUDGMENT AS TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL.” YESTERDAY WAS THE FIRST FULL DAY SAME-SEX COUPLES COULD GET MARRIAGE LICENSES AND OFFICIALS TELL WTAJ THE TURN OUT IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA WAS LOWER THAN EXPECTED. SOME COUPLES PREVIOUSLY WENT TO OTHER STATES TO TIE THE KNOT.

SCHOOL EVACUATED

WITH ALL THE RAIN YESTERDAY, STUDENTS AND STAFF AT PENFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY HAD TO BE EVACUATED FROM THEIR BUILDING. DUBOIS SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICIALS SAY WATER WAS INCHING TOWARD THE SCHOOL AND THREATENING EVERYONE’S SAFETY. 97 STUDENTS WERE TAKEN TO DUBOIS AREA MIDDLE SCHOOL THEN PICKED UP BY THEIR PARENT OR GUARDIAN.

COURTDATE FOR ACCUSED KILLER

A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED TODAY FOR 25 YEAR OLD KYLE RODGERS OF JOHNSTOWN. HE’S CHARGED IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND, 20 YEAR OLD LINSEY WOLFE, EARLIER THIS MONTH ON BLOOM STREET IN DALE BORO. POLICE SAY WOLFE ARGUED WITH RODGERS. HE APPARENTLY GOT A GUN FROM THE BEDROOM AND WENT DOWN THE STAIRS. HE TOLD POLICE WOLFE PUSHED HIM, AND THE GUN WENT OFF, HITTING HER.

ARMED ROBBER ON THE RUN

ALTOONA POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE MAN WHO FLASHED A GUN AND TRIED TO ROB THE CVS PHARMACY ON PLANK ROAD YESTERDAY. A MALE WORKER STEPPED IN AND REFUSED TO COOPERATE, SO THE SUSPECT FLED ON FOOT INTO THE GARDEN HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD. HE IS A WHITE MALE, ABOUT 5-FOOT-11 WITH A THIN BUILD AND A BLACK BEARD. HE WAS WEARING A BLACK HAT, GREY SHORTS, WHITE PENN STATE HOODED SWEATSHIRT, AND BLACK TENNIS SHOES. A PHOTO IS POSTED ON THE A-P-D FACEBOOK PAGE. CALL 911 IF YOU SEE THE ROBBER.

ACCUSED ARSONIST DUE IN COURT

A PRELIMINARY HEARING FOR 23-YEAR-OLD BRYAN FLICKINGER OF CLAYSBURG IS SCHEDULED TODAY. HE’S CHARGED WITH STARTING A FIRE LAST MONTH THAT DESTROYED SEVERAL UNITS AT THE GREENFIELD APARTMENTS. AUTHORITIES ALSO BELIEVE HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A BARN FIRE ON SKI GAP ROAD THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND POLICE SAY 3 FIRES WERE STARTED AT THE HOUSE WHERE FLICKINGER USED TO LIVE.

MORE HEROIN ARRESTS IN JOHNSTOWN.

STATE AND LOCAL DRUG AGENTS BUSTED SEAN AND KRISTA MCCALL AND FOUND MORE THAN 800 BAGS OF HEROIN INSIDE THEIR FRONHEISER STREET HOME ALONG WITH OVER 42-HUNDRED DOLLARS IN CASH. BOTH ARE IN THE CAMBRIA COUNTY JAIL.

CERTIFIED CHILD PASSENGER TECHNICIANS WILL INSPECT SEATS, MAKE SURE THEY ARE PROPERLY INSTALLED, AND CHECK FOR POSSIBLE RECALLS.
