HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR KILLED

17 YEAR OLD DEREK BROTHERS OF NANTY GLO DIED ABOUT 7:20 WEDNESDAY MORNING AFTER CRASHING HIS CAR BETWEEN ALLIE BUCK AND CARDIFF ROADS IN BLACKLICK TOWNSHIP. STATE POLICE SAY BROTHERS WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT AND WAS EJECTED WHEN THE VEHICLE STRUCK AN EMBANKMENT. HIS PASSENGER, 19 YEAR OLD TYLER GERBER OF EBENSBURG, WAS TAKEN TO JOHNSTOWN’S MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER WITH CRITICAL INJURIES. BROTHERS WAS A CULINARY ARTS STUDENT AT ADMIRAL PERRY VO-TECH IN EBENSBURG.

SANDUSKY = SEXUAL PREDATOR?

BABYSITTER CHARGED

IT’S BEEN MORE THAN 2 YEARS SINCE A 5 MONTH-OLD BABY SUFFERED A FRACTURED SKULL AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES…AND NOW HER BABYSITTER, JALENE MCCLURE OF BELLEFONTE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED AND SIMPLE ASSAULT AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT. DOCTORS SAY THE CHILD HAD BLEEDING ON THE BRAIN AND IN THE EYES. WHEN MCCLURE WAS QUESTIONED, SHE JUST SAID THE BABY HAD BEEN THROWING UP. IN A SECOND INTERVIEW, MCCLURE TOLD POLICE THAT SHE FELL DOWN WHILE HOLDING THE BABY AND THE CHILD HIT HER HEAD ON THE SIDE ON HER CAR SEAT. MCCLURE IS FREE ON UNSECURED BAIL WITH A PRELIMINARY HEARING SET FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY.

PRISON EMPLOYEES CLEARED AFTER INMATE’S MURDER

LAST MONTH, CAMBRIA COUNTY PRISON INMATE WILLIAM SHERRY WAS STRANGLED BY HIS CELL-MATE, WILLIAM CRAMER. SHERIFF BOB KOLAR SAYS AN INTERNAL REVIEW HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND IT APPEARS THAT ALL PRISON EMPLOYEES FOLLOWED CORRECT PROCEDURES AND THERE WERE NO IMPROPRIETIES. JAIL OFFICIALS SAY SHERRY AND CRAMER HAD BEEN CLASSIFIED FOR DISCIPLINARY CUSTODY AND WERE DOUBLE-CELLED TOGETHER IN A STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE.

JOHNSTOWN POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE WOMAN WHO ROBBED FIRST NATIONAL BANK IN MOXHAM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE SUSPECT HAD BROWN HAIR IN A BUN AND WAS WEARING A BLACK SWEATSHIRT-TYPE JACKET, BLUE JEANS AND A BROWN HAT. THE ROBBER GAVE A NOTE TO A BANK TELLER WHICH SAID SHE HAD A GUN, BUT NO WEAPON WAS SHOWN. NEARBY GREATER JOHNSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL WAS ON LOCKDOWN FOR A WHILE JUST AS A PRECAUTION.

DRUG SUSPECT DUE IN COURT TODAY

THE BLAIR COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE AND STATE DRUG AGENTS ARRESTED 35 YEAR OLD ALLEN NOWLIN OF THE PITTSBURGH AREA FRIDAY AFTER BUYING 13-HUNDRED DOLLARS WORTH OF HEROIN FROM HIM. AFTER THE BUY, NOWLIN TOOK OFF AND LED OFFICERS ON A HIGH-SPEED CHASE INTO CAMBRIA COUNTY. DURING THE PURSUIT, HE THREW A FULLY-LOADED, STOLEN 9 MILLIMETER SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUN OUT THE CAR’S WINDOW. NOWLIN IS ALREADY A CONVICTED FELON AND NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A WEAPON.
