ALTOONA COP SHOOTS SUSPECT
the shots-fired call in altoona about 4:30 YESTERDAY morning involved a city police officer. police say the officer encountered a male suspect in the alley between 4th and 5TH AVENUES. he fired one round into the suspect’s CHEST, BUT the injury did not appear to be life-threatening. the officer was not injured. HE HAS BEEN PLACED ON DESK DUTY AS THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES. NO NAMES HAVE BEEN RELEASED.
A DEADLY MOTORCYCLE WRECK YESTERDAY MORNING IN Clearfield County. STATE POLICE SAY A CAR DRIVEN BY 84 YEAR OLD KASPAR ANTHONY OF WELLSVILLE NEW YORK COLLIDED WITH A BIKE along the Bigler-Philipsburg Highway. The BIKER, A 59 YEAR OLD MAN, WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. ANTHONY AND HIS PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
HUGE PARTY BUSTED UP
LOGAN TOWNSHIP POLICE NOW SAY 12 OF THE 13 SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER THAT HUGE PARTY SATURDAY AT THE NITTANY POINTE APARTMENTS HAD BEEN DRINKING. POLICE CHIEF RON HELLER SAYS OFFICERS DID NOT INTERVENE UNTIL BOTTLES STARTED BEING THROWN AND THE CROWD OF ABOUT 800 BEGAN TO GET UNRULY. ONE STUDENT WHO WAS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE PARTY REFUSED TO GO INTO HIS APARTMENT AND ALLEGEDLY RESISTED ARREST. HE WAS HIT WITH A TASER. PRELIMINARY HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED THURSDAY.

2 Philipburg residents face felony aggravated assault charges after fightS AROUND WEIS MARKET. ON SUNDAY, State police saY Cameron Golding and Destiny Nies FOUGHT with JENNIFER AND RYAN SMITH OF Philipsburg AND A KNIFE WAS USED TO THREATEN JENNIFER. Charges were filed against Golding and Nies and arrest warrants were issued. On Monday, another fight BROKE OUT near the store between Golding and RYAN SMITH. Golding and Nies were taken into custody on the warrants from the first fight. JAMIE LEIGH NIES IS ALSO CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA.
BLAIR COUNTY FUEL SPILL
BLAIR COUNTY Hazmat crews SPENT PART OF MONDAY AFTERNOON CLEANING UP An oil spill. Emergency responders say fuel oil leaked from a tank outside a home into a creek in Allegheny Township. They put fuel absorbent materials in the creek to help clear it up. Officials say there’s no health risk, but there is an environmental concern.

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT 75 YEAR OLD LEONARD CUOMO OF GALLITZIN IS CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLING OVER 114-THOUSAND DOLLARS WHILE WORKING AS THE SECRETARY/TREASURER FOR GALLITZIN TOWNSHIP IN CAMBRIA COUNTY OVER A 7 YEAR PERIOD. HE’S ALSO ACCUSED OF FUNNELING ABOUT 37-HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HIS SON, CHRISTOPHER CUOMO. BOTH MEN FACE PRELIMINARY HEARINGS APRIL 25TH.
PENN STATE SPORTS REVENUE DOWN
THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES SAYS THE Penn State athletic department’s latest financial report shows revenue declined by 7-POINT-9 million DOLLARS, or nearly 7 percent, last year to more than 108 million. FOLLOWING THE SANDUSKY SCANDAL, revenue from football ticket sales was 33-POINT-4 million in 2012, down from 34-POINT-2 million THE PREVIOUS YEAR. More than 9-POINT-6 million DOLLARS in contributions were football-related, nearly 4 times the amount from 2011. But contributions were down to athletics overall from 34-POINT-2 million to 25-POINT-5.
MOBILE HOME PARK OWNER SUED
THE OWNERS OF HILLTOP MOBILE HOME PARK IN STATE COLLEGE ARE BEING SUED BY The State Attorney General. KATHLEEN KANE’S OFFICE SAYS KENNETH AND SHARON MAYES entered into an agreement to sell the site TO A STUDENT HOUSING DEVELOPER, then didn’t comply with a law requiring them to pay re-location expenses to the residents.
The COUPLE MUSt NOW pay each resident 4-THOUSAND DOLLARS, or buy out the homes of those unable or unwilling to find A NEW PLACE.

Income Tax Day is less than a week away, and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is accommodating procrastinators. The department's service and information center is opened weekdays from 7:30AM until 7PM through April 15th. This Saturday, the office will be open between 8 and 4.
