Working on a STATE BUDGET
Senate Democrats THINK if the Legislature does the exact opposite of almost everything proposed by GovERNOR Tom Corbett, the state could afford to spend 212 million DOLLARS on public schools. The Democrats’ BUDGET plan dependS on savings from expanding Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act AND ModernizING the state liquor monopoly rather than privatizING it. THEY ALSO WANT TO DELAY a move to eliminate a corporate tax. The Democrats’ 28-POINT-4 billion DOLLAR spending plan is roughly 100 million more than the one put forth by House Republicans and approved by the House appropriations committee Monday morning. ACCORDING TO SenATOR John Wozniak OF JOHNSTOWN, because the Republicans have control of the Senate, the House and the governor’s mansion…it is unclear how much of the plan will make it into the final budget.
