DEVASTATING FIRE

THE OWNER OF CREPS UNITED PUBLICATIONS SAYS HE'LL REBUILD HIS BUSINESS IN WHITE TOWNSHIP, INDIANA COUNTY. EARLY DAMAGE ESTIMATES ARE IN THE 10’S OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. ABOUT 50 EMPLOYEES ESCAPED THE BURNING BUILDING SAFELY, BUT 4 FIREFIGHTERS WERE INJURED WHILE BATTLING THE BLAZE TUESDAY MORNING.

KILLER GETS LIFE

A BEDFORD COUNTY JUDGE YESTERDAY SENTENCED MARK SHIREY TO LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE. HE PLEADED GUILTY TO THE 2011 SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS EX-WIFE’S BOYFRIEND MICHAEL SIMPSON OF CUMBERLAND VALLEY. SHIREY WAS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ASSAULTING SIMPSON IN 2002.

2 ATTEMPTED MURDERS

WTAJ REPORTS THAT A LEWISTOWN WOMAN WAS ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER YESTERDAY. POLICE RECEIVED A REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED AROUND 5PM IN THE 200 BLOCK OF LOGAN STREET. OFFICERS FOUND 37 YEAR OLD AMY DRUCKEMILLER BEING HELD BY PEOPLE AT THE SCENE. SHE HAD ALLEGEDLY POINTED A HANDGUN AT HER HUSBAND AND FIRED 2 SHOTS, BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED. DRUKEMILLER IS IN THE MIFFLIN COUNTY PRISON.

51 YEAR OLD LESTER GINDLESPERGER OF PAINT TOWNSHIP IS IN THE SOMERSET COUNTY JAIL CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER. POLICE SAY HE POINTED A MAGNUM REVOLVER AT A WOMAN’S HEAD EARLY SUNDAY MORNING DURING A DOMESTIC INCIDENT AT HIS HOME. GINDLESPERGER PULLED THE TRIGGER, BUT THE BULLET HIT THE PILLOW NEXT TO HER HEAD. BAIL IS SET AT 500-THOUSAND DOLLARS AND A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED NOVEMBER 5TH.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

JERRY SANDUSKY WAS TRANSFERRED EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING FROM THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON TO THE STATE PRISON AT CAMP HILL, OUTSIDE OF HARRISBURG. OFFICIALS THERE SAY SANDUSKY WILL REMAIN AT CAMP HILL FOR 2 TO 4 WEEKS WHILE HIS NEEDS ARE EVALUATED…THEN IT WILL BE DECIDED WHERE HE WILL SERVE HIS 30 TO 60 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE.

18 YEAR OLD AARON FISHER OF CLINTON COUNTY RELEASED HIS BOOK YESTERDAY. IT’S CALLED “SILENT NO MORE: VICTIM ONE’S FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AGAINST JERRY SANDUSKY.” IN THE BOOK, FISHER CALLS THE FORMER COACH A MONSTER AND TALKS ABOUT HIS STRUGGLE TO FIND SOMEONE TO BELIEVE HIM ABOUT THE ABUSE. THE BOOK IS CO-WRITTEN BY FISHER’S MOTHER AND HIS PSYCHOLOGIST, MICHAEL GILLUM. GILLUM BLAMES GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT FOR DELAYING THE INVESTIGATION WHEN HE WAS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AT THE SAME TIME RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR.

TEACHER ORDERED TO TRIAL

FORMER DUBOIS MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER MICHAEL SEDOR OF TREASURE LAKE WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY AND WAS ORDERED TO STAND TRIAL ON CHARGES OF HAVING A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL BETWEEN 2007 AND 2008. SEDOR….WHO HAS PLEADED NOT GUILTY…IS FACING 70 COUNTS INCLUDING 10 OF RAPE. HE REMAINS IN JAIL ON 350-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL.

3 CRASHES, ONE FATAL

POLICE IN PAINT TOWNSHIP, SOMERSET COUNTY, SAY 93  YEAR OLD NELLIE CHELEDNIK IS THE WOMAN KILLED IN A PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT MONDAY EVENING ON SUNSHINE AVENUE IN CENTRAL CITY. CHELEDNIK WAS CROSSING THE STREET WHEN SHE WAS HIT BY A 28-YEAR OLD DRIVER. NO WORD IF CHARGES WILL BE FILED.

33 YEAR OLD TYSON LONG OF DYSART ENDED UP WITH MINOR INJURIES EARLY TUESDAY WHEN HE FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL AND HIS MCNELIS TRUCKING VEHICLE RAN OFF I-99 NEAR EAST FREEDOM. THE RIG FLIPPED OVER THE GUARDRAIL AND LANDED ON ITS SIDE. AN INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

23 YEAR OLD LAURA ZEIGLER OF BEDFORD SUFFERED MODERATE INJURIES YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN HER SPEEDING PICKUP TRUCK RAN OFF RESERVOIR ROAD IN BLAIR TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY, AND OVERTURNED SEVERAL TIMES. 1 YEAR OLD DAKOTA SEREA OF BEDFORD WAS IN A CHILD SAFETY SEAT AND ONLY HAD MINOR INJURIES. ZEIGLER WAS TAKEN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL TRAUMA CENTER.

PENN STATE ALTOONA STUDENTS BUSTED

FOLLOWING A 2-MONTH INVESTIGATION AND MULTIPLE MARIJUANA SALES TO AN UNDERCOVER OFFICER, ALTOONA POLICE ARRESTED 2 PENN STATE ALTOONA FRESHMEN YESTERDAY. POLICE SEIZED 5 OUNCES OF POT PACKAGED FOR SALE, NEARLY 1-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH, AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA FROM THE APARTMENT OF 19 YEAR OLD DYLAN DAVIS AND 18 YEAR OLD NIGEL FENDER, BOTH OF MARYLAND. PRELIMINARY HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED NEXT WEDNESDAY.

THE AGREEMENT APPROVED TUESDAY SETS A BASE VALUE FOR THE 240-BED FACILITY AT 13-POINT-5 MILLION DOLLARS, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE COUNTY CAN ACTUALLY SELL IT. COMMISSIONERS SAY THEY PLAN TO DO WHAT THEY CAN TO PROTECT BOTH THE RESIDENTS AND VALLEY VIEW EMPLOYEES.
