May as well begin with a rivalry

It was the home opener for the Altoona Mountain Lion basketball team last night.  Altoona beat Hollidaysburg, 49-39.  The Mountain LIons had a height and girth edge at every position.  But the Tigers put them to the test.  Altoona had numerous scoring opportunities that were well defended, or at least missed on their part.  Jaret Berardinelli had 13 points to lead Altoona, Nick Consiglio had 13 for the Tigers.

Hollidaysburg has no seniors.  They'll get better.  One of Altoona's high points was 6-6 Jermaine Samuel at guard.  He was able to see over the Tiger D and blocked a couple of treys on the perimeter.

The game was sloppy with missed layups and turnovers, but both coaches saw signs of bright futures.

The Lady Lions and Lady Tigers play in Hollidaysburg tonight.  Air time on WFBG is 7:15.  The game will also be streamed, the location is on the front page.  Remember, if the location for streaming doesn't load, just refresh your browser.  The game will also be on MSA sports.
