Chartiers Valley came out hot and ended the same way. They stopped Altoona's girls 58-45. The Lady Colts hit their first three point shot, 8 seconds in and took a 12 point lead in the first quarter. The Lady Lions battled back and the game was tied at 41 headed into the fourth. Darby Lee got untracked, scoring 14 points for the day. Lee faced multiple six footers against Mt. Lebanon on Friday. On Saturday, the Colts brought 6-4, Kristin McGeough to the court.
Lauren Donley's 3 3-pointers and Natalie Knab's 2 treys helped get Altoona back in the game. The Lady LIons had too many empty trips to open the fourth quarter and they were forced to chase.
The Mountain Lions lost at Peters Township against the hosts. Peters hit a game winner as time ran out and beat Altoona 39-37.
Both the boys and girls next play Hollidaysburg. The boys host the Tigers on Tuesday, the girls visit the Lady Tigers on Wednesday. Both games will be on WFBG, wfbg.com and MSA Sports. Air time will be 7:15.
For those of you who have not yet figured out how to get the games on the web site, here's a tip. You will see our streaming aps to the right of this column. One of them is titled Altoona Hi Sports. When we're broadcasting, there will be a start arrow in the block. If you don't see the start arrow and the feature isn't loading, hit the refresh button on your browser. Not sure why it does this, but sometimes, it takes a refresh or two to make the site load properly. Once you've actually tuned in, you'll be impressed with the quality of the broadcasts.
